2017 ISCE/APACE invites the submission of abstract for the oral/poster presentation. Abstracts can be submitted under any of the following sessions.

Authors may choose their preference (oral or poster mode) in the on-line submission form, but the definite mode of presentation will be decided by the Program Committee and the Conveners, based on space/time restrictions.

  2. All presenting authors are required to register by the Early Registration Deadline of May 15, 2017 June 22, 2017 and submit payment at this time.

Instruction for Abstract Submission

Please use the abstract template.

Paper size A4 size (up to 3MB)
Length 1 page
Font Times New Roman, 12pt. size (except the abstract title)
Structure Use the above WORD template to prepare your abstract.
1) Title: 14pt., Left aligned, Bold
2) Author name(s): Left aligned
Separated by commas and each followed with superscript (1, 2, 3...) referring to the respective affiliation(s). Mark the presenting author with an asterisk (*).
3) Affiliation(s): Left-aligned, Italic
Organizations numbered in superscript to indicate association with author or presenter.
4) The abstract should be less than one A4 page including title, affiliations, abstract text and references. Subheadings are not necessary.
5) Abstract text: 12pt., Left aligned
Your abstract should clearly and concisely outline the content of the presentation and should include key points/issues to be addressed. Please use standard abbreviations only. Please spell out the name in full at the first mention and follow with the abbreviations in parenthesis.
6) No graphs/tables/images are allowed.
7) References are not required. But if included the references should all be cited in the text, numbered in square [] brackets consecutively in order of first appearance.

8) Please convert your abstract to a Portable Document Format (PDF) file and then submit the PDF file.

Submission Procedures

  1. All abstracts must be submitted electronically via the 2017 ISCE/APACE official website only. Abstracts submitted by fax, e-mail, or post will not be accepted.
  2. After you have prepared your abstract according to the instructions above, proceed to the Online Abstract Submission.
  3. After submission, confirmation e-mail will be sent to the corresponding author. If you do not receive it, please notify the secretariat via e-mail (2017isce@krp.co.jp).

In order to replace your abstract or make a correction in the registered information you must input all information again and submit a new corrected version prior to the deadline. Please enter your latest application number (5-digit number beginning with “ABR” that can be found in the confirmation e-mail) when you re-submit an abstract.

Students and young scientists who will present at the 2017 ISCE/APACE are invited to apply for following awards.

2. APACE Student Travel Award
3. APACE Young Scientist Award

1) All students who apply for oral/poster presentation are qualified to apply for either travel award.
2) Applicants for the APACE Young Scientist Award can also apply for oral/poster presentation.

1. ISCE Student Travel Award


The total number of awardees varies year-to-year, but travel awards are generally given to 5-10 graduate students and early-career postdoctoral researchers. These awards are sponsored in part by a generous donation from Trécé, Inc.

To be considered for this travel award, you must meet the following requirements:

1) Be a full-time graduate student or postdoc (3 years or less).
2) Present a paper or poster at the meeting.
3) Not have previously received an ISCE travel award.
4) Have an endorsement from your major professor.
5) Be a member of the ISCE.

  • Your application should be submitted to ISCE past president Ken Haynes (khaynes@uky.edu) who is the chair of the Student awards committee and who may also answer any questions regarding the award. Include motivation letter, CV, abstract, and endorsement from your professor/supervisor. Submit all documents as one pdf file. The deadline for receipt of all application materials is April 15 2017  April 29 2017.
  • Abstracts must also be submitted to the 2017 ISCE/APACE secretariat through the online abstract submission.

APACE Student Travel Award and Young Scientist Award

2. APACE Student Travel Award

The purpose of this award program is to partially support those qualified students to the APACE-ISCE joint conference in Kyoto, Japan (Aug. 23-28, 2017) to present their research (Postdoc applicants are also included, but with <3 years). Applicants must be enrolled full time students at a university or college. Applicants must be a student member of APACE. She/He must present an oral paper or poster at the conference (multiple author submissions are accepted). All applicants will be reviewed by the APACE Executive Committee and elected Councilors.

3. APACE Young Scientist Award

The APACE Young Scientist Award in Chemical Ecology aims to recognize some young scientist(s) performing cutting-edge research in chemical ecology, which the outcome of her/his research will have significant impacts of the future direction of the field of Chemical Ecology. The winner(s) will present a plenary seminar about his research at the coming APACE-ISCE joint conference in Kyoto, Japan (Aug. 23-27, 2017), with a trophy. To be qualified as candidate(s) of this award, you have to be an APACE current member, received your PhD degree no longer than 5 years, and nominated by an APACE member (at least one). The recipient of this award will receive free conference registration and a cash award during the conference. All nominated candidate(s) will be reviewed by the APACE Executive Committee and elected Councilors.
